Our stop in Ocho Rios was a relaxed and informative day that blended history, culture, and great food. We booked a city tour through the cruise line, which made everything simple and organized from the moment we stepped off the ship.

As we drove through the area, our guide shared the history of Jamaica and talked about the vegetation that grows naturally on the island. We learned about the different berries, fruit trees, and plants that are part of everyday life in Jamaica. It was interesting to see how much of the island’s culture is connected to the land.

One of the highlights of the day was our stop at Scotchies for lunch. It is a well-known local spot that serves authentic Jamaican jerk. The atmosphere is casual and open-air, and the food is cooked over traditional pimento wood. It was the perfect place to experience real Jamaican flavors in the middle of our tour.

During the tour, we also had a moment that really stood out. A young local started doing flips in front of our van as we drove by. It is their way of earning tips from visitors, and it added a surprising and memorable bit of energy to the day.

The day had a nice balance of learning, sightseeing, and tasting the island’s signature dishes. Ocho Rios gave us a deeper appreciation for Jamaica’s culture and natural beauty.
