Grand Cayman was one of those easy, enjoyable port days where everything unfolded at the perfect pace. As soon as we stepped off the ship, we decided to walk over to Cabana, a local favorite right on the waterfront. It was the perfect way to ease into the day: ocean breeze, bright views, and a menu full of island comfort food.
We ordered a mix of dishes that really captured the flavors of the Cayman Islands. One plate came with jerk chicken, rice, beans, plantains, and coleslaw - simple, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you’re sitting by the water. The other was a specialty burger with fries and coleslaw, hearty and satisfying in that vacation‑day way. Between the food and the view, it felt like the ideal start before exploring the island.
After lunch, we headed back toward the port and joined a city tour offered right there on the spot, which made the rest of the day feel spontaneous and stress-free. The tour took us through several of Grand Cayman’s most iconic stops, each with its own personality.
One of the most memorable was our visit to Hell. The husband and wife who run the little shop there were incredibly friendly and welcoming. For a one-dollar donation, they stamped our passports, which was such a fun keepsake from the day. Their store has postcards you can mail right from Hell, along with T-shirts and other souvenirs. It is a lighthearted stop that adds a playful moment to the tour.
We also visited The Old Homestead, a charming pastel pink historic home that gives you a glimpse into Cayman’s past, and stopped by a local rum shop where you can browse, sample, or pick up a bottle to bring home.
We wrapped up the day at Seven Mile Beach, one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in the Caribbean. Soft white sand, crystal clear water, and that peaceful, easy feeling that makes you want to stay just a little longer. It was the perfect ending to a day that blended food, history, fun, and pure island relaxation.
